After the Smoke, the third short film by emerging director Nick Waterman held its world premiere at the 67th Berlinale in 2017.
Nick’s films explore different aspects of Australian identity through his poetic storytelling and strong graphic imagery. He practices in a range of disciplines, from character driven drama to music videos mixing real experience with stylised cinematography.
After graduating from film-school at UTS, his debut short From Here premiered at Palm Springs International ShortFest. His 2014 follow-up short Vote Yes launched the Flickerfest International Film Festival program and has since screened at special presentations in cinemas and schools for both Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
Nick has worked with a variety of artists, brands and organisations including Harper’s Bazaar, Volvo, Westfield, Virgin Australia and Beyond Empathy.
